Drag racing and rampant speeding occur on the McGrath Highway, especially late at night when the road is wide open. Sport car and motorcycle engines can be heard roaring on the open road, especially on the outbound lanes. Traffic calming is needed along Route 28, particularly the outbound stretch that has no traffic lights headed northwest from Twin City Plaza. The speeding has an adverse impact on traffic safety, the character of the area, pedestrian safety, and quality of life. Excessive noise levels from the amplified vehicle exhaust can be heard from inside homes throughout the neighborhood.
